By AnnArbor.com Staff

Two suspects are in custody following a fatal shooting early this morning that left one teenager dead and one wounded in Ypsilanti, police said.

Neither information on the suspects nor the names of the victims were released by the Ypsilanti Police Department on Friday.

A press release said police determined that the shooting stemmed from a fistfight among a small group that escalated.

Officers were called to the 300 block of Worden Street about 12:15 a.m. and found two people who had suffered gunshot wounds, according to the initial press release.

A 17-year-old Ypsilanti Township man died at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township of a gunshot wound to the neck, the press release said. An 18-year-old man is hospitalized in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the face.

The press release said police determined that the shooting stemmed from a fistfight that escalated.

Police said the investigation is continuing.

17 years old and 18 years old...sad. I know we can't save the world, but maybe if we're open to befriending, mentoring, investing in just one kid, it would make a difference.

I would like to commend the staff for a much better artical than some I have read on here. Much nicer to hear of press releases instead of misinformation on an earlier post. I would like to add though you might want to edit a part. Mugger_Mike

I think I saw the kids in question at Perry school around 8pm yelling and pushing each other. Than a Ypsi cop pulled up and they left the school parking lot. Sounds like they left, grabbed their guns and met up for a OK corral at midnight showdown.
