Water main break in Ann Arbor repaired; Geddes Road still closed
A broken water main on Geddes Road in Ann Arbor has been repaired and water service restored to all customers, the city of Ann Arbor said just before 4 p.m. today.
The road was expected to remain closed to all but local traffic between Huron Parkway and Earhart Road until about 6 p.m.
Water is safe to drink straight from the tap, the city said, but anyone who has discolored water should run the cold water for a few minutes to clear the lines.
The 16-inch water main broke between Earhart Road and Huron Parkway on the city's east side this morning. Lisa Wondrash, communications unit manager, said water service was restored to all but two customers within about 15 or 20 minutes. She did not know a cause for the break.

I traveled on the section of Geddes from Huron Parkway to Earhart yesterday evening around 5 pm, and everything was open. BTW, I can't tell if Ann English's comment about a roundabout in front of a school is intended seriously or sarcastically. As a frequent user of that intersection, I find that I like the three roundabouts on Geddes much better than the traffic lights they replaced -- at least most of the time. Yesterday, however, people on westbound Geddes used the roundabout for a U-turn to get back on 23, leaving few breaks for traffic to get from Earhart onto eastbound Geddes. Fortunately, similar situations don't happen often!

A2Susie, You are correct --- it makes no sense. At 4:30PM this afternoon, I drove southbound Earhart and took the roundabout east on Geddes to US23...no indication of a water main break.

The article says, "The road was expected to remain closed to all but local traffic between Earhart Road and the turnabout for Concordia University until about 6 p.m." I believe the roundabout at the end of Earhart Rd is the same as that for Concordia. Could you please clarify? Thanks.

Okay. I'm letting go of this.

The road was closed between Huron Parkway and Earhart Road. That's been corrected in the article.

It's obvious this article was written pretty carelessly. The phrase "between Earhart Road and the turnabout for Concordia" makes no geographic sense; the roundabout for Concordia is AT Earhart Road. There is another roundabout east of Earhart, but that doesn't make any sense either, since the water main break was west of Earhart. Your request for clarification is reasonable, but is being ignored. I think that should tell us something too.

"The 16-inch water main broke between Earhart Road and Huron River Drive " I think you mean Huron Parkway, not Huron River Drive.

Yes. Huron Parkway. That's been corrected. Thank you.

I think by "turnabout" you mean "roundabout". Makes sense for yet another roundabout in front of a school; Skyline's is used heavily.
