The hearing is the culmination of months of controversy surrounding Hicks and former Superintendent Doris Hope-Jackson. Both are now facing hearings on charges of misappropriating funds and defrauding the district.

Hicks is currently on paid administrative leave.
Board members and district officials declined to comment on the hearing before going into closed session this morning, but said there would be no vote today. Board President Sheri Washington said the hearings could take up to several days.
Hicks' hearing comes days after AnnArbor.com reported she received a contract extension and raise that was submitted by Hope-Jackson and signed by former board president Claudette Braxton after Braxton resigned from the board.
