Woman charged with stabbing husband during fight in their Pittsfield Township home
A Pittsfield Township woman is scheduled to appear in Washtenaw County District Court Thursday to face multiple charges for allegedly stabbing her husband during a dispute.
Sarah Anne Smith, 49, will face counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and aggravated domestic violence at her preliminary hearing Thursday, court records show.
She was arrested by Pittsfield Township police in her home last Wednesday night, shortly after her husband walked to a nearby pizzeria to call 911 at about 8:45 p.m. The 59-year-old man was stabbed in the shoulder and was hospitalized, Director of Public Safety Matt Harshberger said. The husband is now recovering.
The man told police they got into an argument in their home in the 2400 block of Hawks Drive, and it quickly escalated, Harshberger said. Both were intoxicated during the fight and were uncooperative with officers that night. Police interviewed the couple’s 12-year-old son, who reportedly witnessed the assault.
Smith was arraigned on Friday, and her bond information was not immediately available.
