Ypsilanti's parking enforcement steps up efforts during summer events
Ypsilanti’s parking enforcement officers stepped up their efforts over the weekend to help address parking problems created by the estimated 9,000 visitors to the annual Summer Beer Festival in Riverside Park.
Ypsilanti Police Lt. Craig Annas said the department adjusted the parking enforcement officers' hours in collaboration with event organizers to help with issues they've had in the past.
Annas said the officers were there both to help visitors and residents find parking and to issue citations to those who blocked fire hydrants or driveways.
“People have to follow the law 24-7, even on Saturday,” Annas said.
He said it was the first time the department has taken such steps and called the effort a success. He added the department will likely take the same measures during the Heritage Festival.

I saw my share of annoying Beer Fest parking violations (one in a residential backyard, really? they hadn't even started drinking yet), but, I have to say, of all the problems a community could have, this is a nice one to have.

It sounds like the old Ann Arbor Saturday football gameday and Art Fair gig. Hey, it works for Ann Arbor by bringing in buckets of money.

Ypsi parking enforcement is a joke. I've seen their enforcement car parked illegally.
