He is accused in the death of Chris King of Ypsilanti Township, who was shot at about 4 p.m. after a fight on a sidewalk outside the store near the intersection of Washtenaw Avenue and Golfside Road.

Deputies have been working to identify another man believed to be involved in the shooting.

Crockett's arraignment was not shown on a television set this afternoon in the sheriff's department lobby because of technical difficulties.

This overall is a very unfortunate situation. I happen to work at the Kmart where all of this happened at. I had the pleasure of meeting Chris King (he's a friends of mines cousin) a few years back. I go to school with one of the accused (Charles Pippins) and have saw the other accused (Michael Crockett) around town at parties and his place of work. Everything about this story boils down to the fact that no one should have lost their life. Nothing is worth killing someone over. The only people that know what really happened are the people that where there; Chris & whom ever else that may be. Everyone else (including myself) are simple outsiders looking in on a tragic event that could have been avoided! Being 17 its sad that this is the kind of things I hear far to often happening to people in my age group.

What a waste of two young lives and two very hurt families.

I can only feel heartbreak for the moms of both of these young men. The pain is too much to even consider.

The accused looks like a handsome young man even in his mug shot. What a wasted life. It's so sad. One young man dead, another man likely to be sent off to spend the rest of his life in prison.
