Missing family found safe in New Mexico

By Cindy Heflin

The Ypsilanti Township woman and her children reported missing Thursday were found later in the day in Albuquerque, N.M., police said.

The family boarded a train that arrived in Albuquerque Thursday afternoon. Alisha Martinez, 29, and her children were interviewed, and no charges are expected in the case, Washtenaw County sheriff’s deputies said.

Martinez was last seen by her boyfriend Tuesday morning at their home, Sgt. Geoffrey Fox of the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office told AnnArbor.com on Thursday morning.

Her children, ages 8 and 3, also were reported missing.

Police earlier said the family was safe in another city but did not provide details, WDIV reported.

I have to say the Media and Police intially said they were not releasing her location due to allegations of abuse towards the Boyfriend. I don't think telling the world where she was located was a good thing to do!

OMG... she left with her children to escape her abusive boyfriend ... and the newsies felt it necessary to reveal her location! Foolish andt tarnished journalism. I sincerely hope nothing happens to her or her children.

Dude, if you didn't know they were 1500 miles away in New Mexico, you might not be the boyfriend anymore.
