There's always a time and place when it comes to fishing our magnificent waters of Michigan. There are few places that can rival the level of expertise of the vendors at "The Ultimate Fishing Show" located at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, which is running from now until Sunday.

Whether you're into ice fishing, river fishing, inland lake or fishing our majestic Great Lakes; it's all here.

There are vendors from all over North America that proudly display their previous catches by video presentation, pictures or taxidermy.

There are ice fishing shanties of every shape and size, lures, motorized or manual ice augers, outer ware and fishing rods for those who are brave enough to endure the icy conditions of the frozen north. Maybe someday we'll get some ice so bring out your boats in the meantime.

There are a multitude of other fun attractions for the entire family to enjoy.

There's an indoor trout fishing pond in which we saw numerous fish being caught. You can take the fish home with you for dinner or release it.

There's a bouncer playground for little kids, video games and fishing seminars for both novice and experienced fisherman and women to enjoy.

There are dozens of boats to purchase including but not limited to power boats, fishing boats, pontoon boats, canoes and kayaks.

However, most patrons enjoy visiting with the different vendors from across North America. One such vendor is Greg Sheremeta from Sara K Fishing Charters out of Frankfort, Mich. My kids and I used Greg's services last summer, and my boys had the best fishing experience of their lives — literally. Greg offers half-day and full-day charters throughout the summer months on Lake Michigan.

But, Sara K Charters is just one of many reputable charters available for business, and they'll gladly tend to your every wish given the opportunity.

Vendor's range from perch/walleye fishing on Lake Erie, Muskie fishing on Lake St. Clair — which is arguably known as the worlds best location for Muskie fishing —  trout fishing guides on famous rivers throughout Michigan to Great Lakes charters for salmon and lake trout.

It's all here from vendors to gear and everything in between. Michigan United Conservation Clubs (MUCC) is also here, and you can become a member if you'd like to help support their conservation efforts.

Finally, this event has all the bad food for you that we all love, like hot dogs, French fries and pop. The Country Smoke House is also there, and I highly recommend their Jalapeño pepper cheese sticks; make sure to buy bottled water before you try them.

So, if you want to escape these winter blues, then take your family on down to this fun event which is designed to keep your family outside and away from video games.
