Eastern Michigan hires Huron High School graduate Mike Brown as assistant basketball coach

Huron High School graduate Mike Brown has been hired as an assistant basketball coach at Eastern Michigan by new head coach Rob Murphy.

An assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at South Alabama since 2009, Brown has strong ties to the area and university. He is married to Melissa (Green) Brown, a 2008 Eastern graduate and former standout track performer for the Eagles.

An Ann Arbor News all-area player for the River Rats as a senior in 1997, Brown played college basketball at Siena Heights and Wayne State.

His first coaching job was as an assistant at Belleville High School in 2004-05, followed by stints as an assistant (2005-06) and head coach (2006-07) at Schoolcraft Community College.

He was also the director of basketball operations at Kent State (2007-08) and head coach at Motlow State Community College in Tullahoma, Tenn (2008-09).

I hope his wife hyphenates her name. Melissa Green-Brown would be a very cool name.
