Three area teams have already clinched at least shares of their respective league titles, and up to five more could do the same before the week is out.

The Huron and Dexter girls have both clinched at least shares of the SEC Red and SEC White divisions, respectively, and both can clinch outright titles on Friday. Huron hosts Saline in its third game in four days, while Dexter travels to third-place Ypsilanti.

The Greenhills boys, meanwhile, went to 11-0 in league play and clinched a share of the MIAC title Friday night, becoming the first area boys team to clinch a title.

The Manchester girls, at 10-0 in the Cascades Conference, can clinch a share of the league title Tuesday against Vandercook Lake, and can win it outright Thursday at Michigan Center, which is tied for third place.

The Ypsilanti boys could also clinch at least a share of their fourth-straight SEC White title with a win over second-place Dexter Friday.

Milan’s boys team, meanwhile, at 10-0 in the 14-game Huron League schedule, could clinch this week with a little help, but will likely have its best shot next Tuesday at Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central.

The Rudolf Steiner girls team is also undefeated in league play, at 5-0 in the Mid-South Conference, and could clinch a league title with an unbeaten week. The Storm play Battle Creek Calhoun Christian Tuesday and Marshall Academy Friday. The Storm boys are tied for first-place in their league at 5-1 overall, with their final two league games this week.

Arbor Prep girls move into top 10

One more Washtenaw County basketball team cracked the the Associated Press top 10 this week, but two fewer teams received votes in the basketball poll.

The Arbor Prep girls, fresh off a 74-34 win in our Game of the Week Monday, made their poll debut at No. 10 in Class C, moving up from two spots out.

Six spots ahead of the Gators is Manchester, in fourth place in Class C for the third straight week.

The two schools are the only two in the area to receive votes in this week’s poll, after Dexter dropped out. And the AP boys poll includes no area teams, after Ypsilanti dropped out from receiving votes in Class A following a loss to Pioneer.
