Lloyd Carr predicts Notre Dame, others will join Big Ten; RB recruit Demetrius Hart to decide next week and more

By Kaleb Roedel

Former Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr has been giving his two cents on college football this week -- most recently, while speaking at the Montgomery Quarterback Club, as reported by Mike Tankersley of the Montgomery Advertiser.

"I'll give you one prediction -- and this is just a personal prediction -- but I think Notre Dame is going to come to the Big Ten," Carr said.

Tankersley writes, "Carr went on to say he believes the Big Ten -- which adds Nebraska next year -- ultimately will consist of 16 teams, and when that happens, it will impact the SEC, the BCS and college football as a whole."

Independence is about all ND has left.... its a fine academic school but a long way from being a great football program...if they were to join the Big Ten, they would immediately be in the lower half of the conference....and it would take them a while to be really competitive...so they fear that they would lose more of their uniqueness if they join a conference....but the flip side of that is that they are becomming more and more irrelevant out on their own island.

I agree with Coach Carr. ND will HAVE to join the Big 10 eventually. I'm surprised they haven't come to this conclusion yet. We'll have to keep our fingers crossed on Demetrius Hart. He's a great running back that Michigan desperately needs right now. He could be the featured back in our spread offense. Our current RB's haven't distinguished themselves much yet, so his presence next year could be a big upgrade of that position. Plus, it would be nice to have another 1,000 yard rusher again named Hart on the team!
