Michigan hockey players Luke Moffatt, Kevin Clare named CCHA players of the week

Sophomores Luke Moffatt and Kevin Clare had significant contributions as the Michigan hockey team won its 15th Great Lakes Invitational title last weekend.

On Tuesday both were recognized as players of the week by the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.

Clare was awarded defensive player of the week honors. He scored the game-winning goal in Michigan's 3-2 overtime victory over Michigan State and was named GLI Most Valuable Player and to the All-Tournament team. Clare also had an assist in Michigan's 4-2 win over Boston College in the tournament's semifinal game. Clare has surpassed his totals from last year in goals (2) and assists (3).

Moffatt earned offensive player of the week honors after recording two assists in the win against Michigan State and a power play goal against Boston College.
