If Saturday's game served as a measuring stick for how far up the Big Ten ladder Michigan has progressed, the outcome showed the Wolverines have quite a ways to go.

Penn State dominated Michigan in nearly every facet of the game, waltzing out of Ann Arbor with a 35-10 victory.

Our coverage of the game and what it means for Michigan's season starts below, kicking off with Dave Birkett's game story:

You are right about Tate--he is trying to force things to happen instead of waiting for a play to develop. As for those defensive backs, that is a weakness that has been there all year--lack of skill and speed more that a lack of effort. When you are reading the numbers on the back of the DB, it means the other guy is just quicker and better. A recruiting problem, not a coaching problem.

Sorry, meant to say in my post just made: "Having a freshman QB running these types of plays probably won't work in the long run against a good defensive team like Penn State."

Right now in fact, they're in the bottom 3! We don't know if they've really improved relative to the Big 10. With 4 games to go, we don't know if they can beat the bottom rung teams (Ill and IU both) and whether they can compete with the middle of the pack. Illinois and Purdue will be defining games for this team.

Theo212, are you sure you watched the game on 10-24-09? Michigan is far from the best team in the Big 10, as a matter of fact, they don't even make the top 3!!

I/m curious who Brent Musburger was pulling for in this game.
