Kevin Mondro has joined new Eastern Michigan basketball coach Rob Murphy's staff, the school announced today.

Mondor was an assistant at Loyola of Chicago the past three seasons.

"Kevin is one of the hardest working coaches in college basketball," Murphy said in a statement. "He brings dedication and commitment to our staff along with a wealth of knowledge in all areas."

Mondro, 36, played at the University of Detroit and joined its staff after graduating in 1997. After four years as the Titans' director of basketball operations he was promoted to a full-time assistant position.

He was on the Titans' staff for 11 years, the final five as the associate head coach. He was also the interim head coach for the second half of the 2007-08 season, when Perry Watson took a leave of absence.

Mondro grew up in Brownstown and graduated from Riverview Gabriel Richard High in 1993.

He joins Huron High School graduate Mike Brown on Murphy's staff. Brown's hiring was announced on May 6.
