Rumors swirling about South Florida job, Michigan offensive coordinator Calvin Magee

By Dave Birkett

Michigan offensive coordinator Calvin Magee still is strongly in the mix for the South Florida job - or not.

ESPN’s Joe Schad tweeted Wednesday that Magee was one of 3 coaches in contention to be South Florida’s next head coach, along with East Carolina’s Skip Holtz and Florida assistant Dan McCarney.

Then he added North Alabama coach Terry Bowden and Miami offensive coordinator Mark Whipple to the list, while Rivals.com’s Tom Dienhart tweeted that Tommy Bowden met with South Florida officials Wednesday.

In good, old-fashioned news stories, the Fayetteville Observer reported that Holtz was “close” to having a deal to be USF’s new coach, and the Tampa Tribune threw Doug Williams' name in the mix.

Basically, South Florida is closing in on a new coach, but no one knows who it’ll be or what the future holds for Magee.
