Freshman defensive backs Justin Turner and Adrian Witty aren’t on the field today as the University of Michigan football opened practice.

Both players have not been ruled eligible by the NCAA Clearinghouse, University of Michigan spokesman Dave Ablauf said. Turner, rated as a five-star prospect by Scout.com, was expected to contend for playing time this season.
