Jeff Daniels' 'Onstage and Unplugged' returning to Purple Rose Theatre

The annual holiday concert is now in its 10th year on the PRTC stage. A prolific songwriter as well as playwright, Daniels (PRTC executive director and founder) performs original songs that are alternately humorous and poignant. Daniels tours nationally, but most intensively in Michigan, his home state. Recently returned from appearances ranging from Alaska to Florida and everywhere in between, Daniels says it’s important to him that he continue to perform on his home stage each year. He presented his annual "Jeff Daniels & Friends" show at the Michigan Theater on Saturday.   This year’s lineup for "Onstage & Unplugged" may feature surprise guest performers and will include old favorites, as well as songs from Daniels’ most recent CD release, "Jeff Daniels Live at the Purple Rose." His first album, "Jeff Daniels Live and Unplugged," was recorded in 2001 during the original PRTC concert that sparked both the tradition and the tour.   Sales from these and Daniels’ other critically acclaimed albums — "Grandfather’s Hat" and "Together Again," with Jonathan Hogan — benefit PRTC and are available at the theater's box office. CDs and information about Daniels’ national tour are also available online at JeffDaniels.com.   Tickets for "Onstage & Unplugged" are available by phone at 734-433-7673, or online at www.purplerosetheatre.org. Ticket prices range from $70-$85, and performance times are: Tuesday, December 21 at 8 p.m.; Wednesday, December 22 at 3 and 8 p.m.; Thursday, December 23 at 8 p.m.; Sunday, December 26 at 3 p.m.; Tuesday-Thursday, December 28-30, at 8 p.m.; and Friday, December 31 at 3 and 8 p.m.
