Locally filmed movie 'Trust' released on DVD, Blu-ray

By Jennifer Eberbach

David Schwimmer’s 2010 movie “Trust” was shot in Ann Arbor, Dexter, and Plymouth at the end of 2009. If you missed its local premier at the Michigan Theater on July 10 or its limited run in selected cities, then you can now get your hands on a copy of the film on DVD or Blu-ray.

“Trust” is a drama starring Clive Owen and Catherine Keener as the parents of a 14-year-old girl (Liana Liberato) who is sexually assaulted after meeting an online friend who she believes is 16 years old but is really a 30-something child predator (Chris Henry Coffey).

Among other spots around Ann Arbor, scenes for the movie were shot at the old Pfizer facilities, which are now the University of Michigan’s North Campus Research Complex. Different areas of the massive 2 million square foot complex were used to stage “an emergency room, O’Hare Airport’s security area (in what is normally a cafeteria), a therapist’s office, an FBI office, and a flagship store, among other sites.” Some filming also happened at nearby Dexter High School and around town in Plymouth.

The film got decent reviews, although it did not make much money at theaters. AnnArbor.com readers who responded to a poll liked the movie—most giving it an “A” or a “B” rating.

They have been filming a movie all this week in Ypsi...a lot of antique cars involved including an antique police car. Looks very cool.

You probably saw them filming AWOL, a film written by University of Michigan film professor Jim Burnstein.
