Authorities identify man and woman whose bodies were discovered in Ypsilanti Township apartment
Washtenaw County sheriff's officials have identified a man and woman whose bodies were discovered in their Ypsilanti Township apartment on Sunday evening.
Deputies found 52-year-old Danny Arthur Smith and 54-year-old Melanie Lee Schuh at about 5:39 p.m. at Lakeshore Apartments after conducting a welfare check at the request of family members, sheriff's spokesman Derrick Jackson said.
Investigators have not determined how they died and said they found no signs of traumatic injuries. Autopsies were expected to take place this afternoon, but an official with the Washtenaw County Medical Examiner's Office said she had no information at 5 p.m.
Jackson said nothing appeared out of place or was obviously missing from the apartment.
Schuh and Smith had dated for years and lived together in the apartment, Jackson said. He said he did not know the last time they were reportedly seen alive.
Firefighters said they tested for carbon monoxide, but found none.

Basically my aunt Melanie came home and discovered Dan dead on the couch. {They were together for 25 years but they never got married because Dan believed that marriage was only a slip of paper and that the paper doesn't prove anything. However I did consider him my uncle} . After Melanie found him she made one phone call to another family member who didn't pick up and then she also died of a heart attack. My cousin Amber their daughter was the one that found em. I appreciate the condolences this is a really hard time for all of the family and we're all grieving. they were both really great people.

How sad. It appeared not to look like a robbery. A suicide pact? Poison? If they were checking as to carbon monoxide, the scene must have left the Police no clue. Only an autopsy might help with this investigation. We are all curious people and this is not the normal situation because of both being found dead together.
