Churches hold community block party to bring residents together

By Jeff Sainlar

The Rev. Willie J. Powell of Grace Fellowship Church along with the Rev. Julianne Smeck of St. Mark Lutheran Church hosted a Meet on the Street Community Block Party on Saturday. Organizers felt this would be a good way to bring the people from the community together, and to let them know they are here and working together to serve the needs of the community and God.

The block party featured fun things for the children such as pony rides, a bounce castle and skate boarding. It was held Saturday afternoon on South Harris Road between Wingate Boulevard and Foley Avenue.

Yeah, good ol' Yipsilanti..... yippee. Gotta love the lazy use of spell check instead of the human eye. You know, there's a Ypsilanti in N. Dakota as well? All you have to do is get on I-94 and head west, till you find yourself just a little east of Jamestown, N. Dakota, exit 269. Nice little place out in the middle of nowhere.

Please correct the spelling of Ypsilanti on the captions. There should be no "i" between the Y and the P. Otherwise a very nice gallery.

Thank you. That's been corrected.
