Now that I have a second dog that loves water, this is a don't miss event. Dogs of all sizes wandering, swimming, jumping, and checking each other out. It is very mellow as well as super fun for the dogs that retrieve toys from the water again and again and again. A great example of positive socialization, and great use of the pool ready to close down. Thank you so much for making this possible, Ann Arbor Rec staff!

How do they sanitize it afterwards? I wouldn't drink out of my dog's bowl, why would I swim in his pool?

Maybe the dog wouldn't drink out of Bob's bowl. No . . . wait . . .

Also, I would bet that there are at least a few adults out there that are guilty of doing the same as young children.

Since the pools are now closed they surely do something to winterize them not long from now. I don't know if they drain them or just lower the water levels, cover them and treat them heavily in early spring but, they do have filters. And, maybe a young child peeing or otherwise in a pool is more likely than a dog doing the same. I've never seen a dog urinating or deficating while swimming but, I suppose it's possible. But, lake, river or pool, you're choosing between either organic matter or strong chemicals.

So cool! Glad the city allows this each year. I need to bring my pup down for a swim next year.
