Images from 'Fly and Remember' at Gallup Park

By Daniel Brenner

A crowd of people gathered at sunset on Tuesday in Ann Arbor's Gallup Park to decorate and fly kites as a tribute to those they have lost.

Participants were encouraged to personalize the kite with sayings, stickers and artwork to remember their loved ones during the "Fly and Remember" event.

Coordinator of the Hospice of Michigan event Margie Martin explained the goal was to remind people they are not alone.

"A great thing about it is that it's multigenerational," Martin says. "We can all do this together and have fun with it."

Martin says it's special for her to see the looks and smiles on people's faces.

So much death in the news, this and the medical school stuff. How about much fun less death?
