Road closures on Rose and White streets start Nov. 8

By AnnArbor.com Staff

As part of the East Stadium Boulevard bridges reconstruction project, sections of Rose and White streets in Ann Arbor will permanently close starting Tuesday, Nov. 8, according to a news release.

Rose Street will permanently close between South State Street and White Street, while White will permanently close from East Stadium to Rose. White will remain open, the release says, although motorists will not be able to access East Stadium from White. There will be no detour route for the closures.

Reconstruction of the East Stadium Boulevard bridges is planned to begin Nov. 28 and will continue through most of 2012.

Other updates starting Nov. 8 related to the construction project include:

  • Installation will begin for temporary traffic control devices and signs around the project site and construction areas throughout the city. The signs will not be visible to the public, but they will be in the process of being installed.
  • The contractor will mobilize equipment to the project site.
  • Sanitary sewer work begins along Rose. This work will not interrupt traffic on South State or East Stadium.

Beginning the week of Nov. 14, the contractor will begin tree clearing operations in the Red Lot and Rose Street areas, the release says.

AATA has announcements on this one as well. This includes the fast delivery service on Stadium to the west side from Packard to Pioneer. Going to be interesting folks.

How sad. Now the City of Ann Arbor will have only 42 traffic signals--not 43--that stay green until a car approaches, and then turn red in the driver's face when no one is coming.
