Saline farmlands are being turned into Civil War battlefields for a feature film shooting in the area.
The film, “War Flowers” stars Christina Ricci and Tom Berenger and will wrap up filming Saturday.
Saline City Councilman David Rhoads said the production company contacted him about a month ago to inquire about filming at Saline’s Depot Museum. The project is also filming on farmland along Saline-Milan Road.

Saline fit the needs of producers after they scouted locations around town.
"They did some shots at the Depot Museum last Friday," said Rhoads, who is also president of the Saline Area Historical Society Museum."
"From a certain angle, the Depot Museum could have fit into that time period."
A casting call notice posted on a website message board for Civil War re-enactors said production began on June 14.
According to the web site notice, the film’s story centers on a North Carolina woman who watches her farmland become a battleground between the Union and Confederate forces. A wounded Union officer finds refuge in her basement where he is nursed back to health.

I'm a UM grad and Film major. Why do I never hear about these films shooting until it is too late?

It would be great if the writer or anyone connected to the movies being made in Ann Arbor could post crew information. I know a very talented woman with a advanced degree in costume design that wants to work in these Ann Arbor/Saline movies.
