By Kyle Feldscher

The Saline Township man who died after being pinned underneath a tractor was attempting to pull a tree out of the ground, according to Saline fire officials.

The 55-year-old man, who is reportedly Stephen Stull, a 1973 graduate of Saline High School, was pulling the tree out of the ground with his tractor when the vehicle’s tire failed and caused it to roll over on top of the man, according to fire officials.

Fire officials would not release the name of the man to AnnArbor.com when reached Tuesday evening.

The cause of the incident is officially an accident and there is no foul play suspected, officials said.

The man was a resident of the home on the 9000 block of Maple Road in Saline Township. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident Monday afternoon.

The Saline Area Fire Department and Michigan State Police Brighton Post and Huron Valley Ambulance were the departments dispatched to the accident.

Fire officials did not give any timeline for when the name of the man would be released. No information on the incident was available from Michigan State Police.
