Pet Photo Friday: The luck o'the Irish, first meetings and more!

The Beckwith/Takessian family bravely shared their story with us on losing their beloved dog, Holly last year in a piece that we did on euthanasia. They have another story to share: "We had lost our wonderful dog Holly. We adopted a wonderful lab mix pup from the Genesee County Humane Society in May. Chai has brought us lots of joy and energy. She is a "water dog"." Here, Chai gets up close and personal with a clam. :) by Wendy Beckwith & Paul Takessian

Here's a story that is a but unexpected: "This lovely, friendly Rooster appeared last June to our neighborhood on Packard Road near Cobblestone Farm. He was living between my house and my neighbors farm. We asked the residents at Cobblestone if they were missing a Rooster - no was the answer. He amused us by doing what roosters do - and became a part of our extended outdoor family. Of course we were concerned about the harsh winters and the dangers of Packard Road. Luckily the winter was very mild for him -- but Packard Road still posed a threat. We just hoped that he would stay content in our yards. He would greet us when we came home after being away; follow us down the driveway when we departed. His curiosity peaked as spring was fast approaching. He tried to cross Packard Road but the traffic was too much for him. Thank goodness he retreated to the safety of my backyard - but a concerned citizen went into action and captured him taking him to the safe environment at Cobblestone Farm. Please visit him and say hi!" by Deb Chappell /calendar/photologue/photos/cache/roosterA2_fullsize.JPG

7 weeks old Chico is a teacup Pomeranian. He was brought home a week ago and has had a blast, running around the yard chasing shadows since his eye sight is not completely clear yet. Housebreaking is in the works and Chico had his first bath as well. Certainly, there will be plenty of firsts in this little guy's life. by Anessa Varney /calendar/photologue/photos/cache/chico_fullsize.JPG
We invite our readers to interact here on the pets section any chance we get, and one thing is evident: people are passionate about their pets. And as we see at the end of each week, they like to show off their cute pet photos!
It's always fun to see what our readers lives are like with their own pets and other animals, and there are always interesting stories to tell.
This week, you'll see a festive dog who has the luck o'the Irish, a chocolate Labrador named Chai who met a new friend and a rooster who made himself at home!
It's all in good fun!
Participating in our weekly photo blog is easy — simply email a photo of your pet, just being him or herself, to ppsa2mi@gmail.com any time for our weekly Pet Photo Friday feature.
Be sure to include the name of the animal(s), as well as their age and city or township of residence in your email. Photos should be 1200 pixels wide and in .jpg format.
We put the week's photos into a slideshow, publish and promote each Friday here in the Pets section.
