Thanks to CFC for their effort to help raise money for charities, specifically the students in this community.

Let's see an accounting of how much money was taken in, how much went to charities, and specifically which ones.

I think that football games cause more traffic problem than this annual event does, but no one complains about that. Maybe making runners happy is worth a slight inconvenience. Also they published TONS of maps about road closures.

@ Brad, What DAY did they close the streets? Some streets were closed for the morning. This was not an entire day thing., It was a FEW hours. More people are directly effected by the closure of Fourth or the closure of Ellsworth and State Street.

Maybe low turnout relative to the turnout that would justify a day of closing streets, etc.

patersa, at the end of our marathon notebook we compared this year's participation numbers to last year's http://www.annarbor.com/sports/octogenarians-anime-characters-and-american-flags-take-to-the-course-for-ann-arbor-marathon/

Low turnout compared to what? JRW, any chance you provide a benchmark for statement? It's not Boston, Chicago or NYC. What was expected turnout? How does it compare to the 2nd marathon run at comparable cities this time of year? Or is it just easier to make a blanket statement?
