The Civil Wars

Acoustic music duo The Civil Wars, slated to be one of the headliners for the Ann Arbor Folk Festival until cancelling their entire upcoming tour, today issued a statement of explanation.

Released on social media, the statement reads, "We sincerely apologize for the canceling of all of our tour dates. It is something we deeply regret. However, due to internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambition we are unable to continue as a touring entity at this time. We thank each and every one of you for your amazing love & support. Our sincere hope is to have new music for you in 2013.

- Joy Williams & John Paul White"

The Ark, which produces the festival, has not yet announced a replacement for The Civil Wars. But the rest of the lineup remains intact, including major names like Lucinda Williams, City and Colour and Rodriguez.

For ticket information, see The Ark's website.

Oh no. I really hope they can reconcile whatever differences they have. :( If they need a break to be with their families, I say go for it. Anything to help them stay together as a band. Would buying more of their CDs help? I could buy 10. *fingers crossed* Regardless of what may come, they are wonderful musicians.

Well, this was the better of the two probable scenarios I had envisioned, the other being that one of them had a serious illness. Very regrettable that they cancelled, as I very much enjoy their music. I wish them the best in all of their endeavors.
