4th suspect arrested in connection with fatal Ypsilanti Township shooting

By AnnArbor.com Staff

One additional arrest has been made in last weekend’s fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man in Ypsilanti Township, bringing the total number of people charged to 4, police said.

More arrests could follow, police said Saturday.

“Detectives are still working the case and trying to piece the details together,” said Commander Dieter Heren of the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department.

On Friday, David Reynolds, a 28-year-old Ypsilanti resident, was charged with being an accessory after the fact in the death of Chris King. He’s being held in the Washtenaw County Jail on $300,000 bond, police said Saturday.

King, of Ypsilanti Township, was fatally shot at 3:58 p.m. Sunday after a fight outside Kmart near the intersection of Washtenaw Avenue and Golfside Road, investigators said. He collapsed roughly 200 yards from the shooting and was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead of a single gunshot wound.

Other suspects already charged include an Ypsilanti Township mother, Tina Crockett, and two of her sons.

Michael Crockett, 20, is suspected of firing the fatal shot. His brother, Charles Pippins, is accused of open murder and armed robbery, and will be tried as an adult.

Further details on the crime were unavailable late Saturday. King's funeral will be Monday in Ypsilanti Township.
