Third Augusta Township mailbox destroyed by gunshot in 10 days
A third mailbox in Augusta Township was reported damaged by a gunshot Wednesday, just one mile away from a mailbox reported to have been shot Tuesday.
According to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, the roadside mailbox in the 9300 block of Liss Road was damaged by gunfire sometime in the previous day. It was unknown what type of gun was used, but the victim told police the damage had been caused by a gunshot.
Sheriff’s office spokesman Derrick Jackson said Wednesday a second mailbox in the 13000 block of Bunton Road had been damaged by an apparent gunshot. Deputies responded to that block on Jan. 9 for the first report of a destroyed mailbox.
It’s unknown if the incidents are related at this time, and police are continuing to investigate all three incidents.
No one has been reported injured in any of the incidents, and police still are looking for suspects.
