After a fire destroyed a free medical clinic in Pinckney that was partly run by University of Michigan Medical School students, organizers have found a new space and plan to re-open this month, according to media reports.

The Faith Medical Clinic is set to open April 20 at 350 Mower Road in Pinckney, which is the former location of the Pinckney Community Library, the Livingston Daily Press & Argus reported.

The clinic has served about 2,000 uninsured patients since 2007. During certain hours, the facility was operated by the U-M Student Run Free Clinic.

A fire in February destroyed the previous location at 122 S. Howell St. in Pinckney.

Fundraisers -- the most recent of which happened this weekend -- have been garnering thousands of dollars for the Faith Medical Clinic since March.

The surrounding community had donated about $30,000 to the clinic by the beginning of March.

Medical students at U-M have been able to raise an additional $25,000 from several events -- of which the students themselves have donated $3,000, according to the University of Michigan Health System. They continue to accept donations online.
