"It has been stated that the city is 'pretty comfortable' with making more cuts. How comfortable is the city with people jumping off rooftops while they wait for numbers of firefighters needed to safely exact a rescue?" - Ann Arbor firefighters union President Matt Schroeder, arguing against the proposed elimination of 12 more firefighters jobs.

“People, of course, feel really strongly about giving their children a good future and that’s become virtually universal now in Michigan -- a fear of the future for their children will not be as good as what they have now. People want to do what they can to fix that.” - Ann Arbor school board Trustee Glenn Nelson, after Washtenaw County voters approved the special education millage renewal.

"I don't want us to become a state where we start prosecuting roadkill, that's all." - Ann Arbor attorney David Nacht, defending a client who is charged with killing four ducklings in a McDonald’s parking lot.

“I wouldn’t say there’s been huge outreach from the community to save Borders here. I’ve done business in a lot of cities and I have not experienced this, which is a less than positive approach with a company that’s in trouble.” - Borders CEO Mike Edwards, on the bookseller’s possible move out of Ann Arbor, in an interview with AnnArbor.com.
