Florida's Prince Holloway ready to commit to Michigan football team; Mississippi State D-coordinator familiar with U-M's Denard Robinson and more

By Kaleb Roedel

The uncertainty of Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez's status may have an effect on some U-M recruits, but not wide receiver Prince Holloway of Cape Coral, Fla.

According to Josh Helmholdt of the Detroit Free Press, "He received scholarship offers from Indiana, Rutgers and West Virginia, but it is an offer from U-M that he plans to accept."

Helmholdt later notes, "This season, Holloway caught 59 passes for 1,028 yards and 13 touchdowns for a 10-2 Cape Coral team. He is projected as a slot receiver in college and feels U-M’s read-option offense is a perfect fit for his skills."

@ Yelmonian, I normally don't put bumper stickers on my ride. However, I am on for this wager. If RR does end up in Florida, chances are, he will take Denard and Dee Hart with him. RR favors speed just like Florida and the rest of the SEC does. No more of the big, fat, and slow bodies to deal with. Florida already has the type of players that fit RR's system. Therefore, he will not have to go through a long rebuilding process as is the case here with UM. For the poster that asserted that RR doesn't have a winning pedigree, you need to recheck RRs history. Your assertion is far from being accurate. RR has been a winner everywhere else hes been due to the fact that until now, he has always been given the chance to finish installing his system.

If this kid gets in to Michigan he is legit. I have seen a ton of film on him. He will primarily be used as slot and kick returner the kid has insane game speed and plays balls to the wall. but his academics may hold him out of Michigan. Holloway plans on majoring in either pharmacy or finance and reports a 2.8 core GPA, a 740 SAT and a 16 ACT (October retake unreported). Possible November SAT retake. Not quite up to par with Michigan Standards...

Just what we need, another Slot Receiver. Here we go again, another year of Rodriguez stealing Recruits away from Indiana, Rutgers, West Virginia, and WESTERN KENTUCKY. Note that this kid is from the state of Florida, and no schools in the entire south have offered him anything.

I wish the kid the best of luck and glad he's coming to Michigan. There isn't a finer school in the country. However, I have to ask WTH the coaches are thinking recruiting yet ANOTHER small slot receiver. Since RR has been here ~40% of every recruiting class is this exact same player. If it was going on at some place else, I'd find it amusing. That it's happening at Michigan, I don't find it very funny. This year, I don't believe any of this recruiting stuff right now. None of it matters until we get the new guy in the fold, whomever that may be. Then we'll be able to see what the new staff can cobble together out of the wreckage left behind by the Hack.

Man, there is no way I see ANY desire down here in Gatorland for RR to replace Meyer! Of course, we're only hearing what the fans and local media are voicing, but RR's name has never come up. (RATS.) Now, Miami is wacky enough where you could possibly see RR eventually being mentioned if the Hurricanes get more and more desperate. But UF types are definitely looking for someone with a winning pedigree.

I agree that Mullen is probably on the top of their list. Just looking at other things happening around the program, the thought of RR going to Florida crossed my mind. Probably more of a conspiracy theory than anything but I thought I would share.

@ Blu Ha! I wish. Maybe one of the sports staff members can write a piece supporting the dismissal of Rodriguez. That might be payment enough.

Skipit! You are on! I'd love to make a friendly wager. If RR wins a national championship anywhere (Div 1 or whatever it's called now) in the next 10 years, I'll put a damn UM Wolverine bumper sticker on my car for a year. (That's murder for a Spartan!) If RR doesn't, you put a Spartan bumpersticker on your car for a year. Maybe we can then get AnnArbor.com to put a friendly article on their website, showing either one of us standing next to their car with the darn sticker. That's how much confidence I have RR will never win a national championship.

If I were in RR's shoes, I would definitely consider one of the job openings down south (Florida or even Miami). Why should one continue to subject oneself to so much headache, heartache, ridicule, and misuderstanding? One is either wanted or not wanted. I would let these unreasonable fans have their "Michigan Man". Mark my word or post! RR will win one or two National Championships within the next 10 years whether at Michigan or somewhere else! Be careful what you wish for, Michigan fans! He who has the last laugh shall have the best laugh.

@ P U MSU, I agree DB has probably made his decision already. However, I don't think Florida would have interest in RR. I believe Dan Mullen will be at the top of their list.

Tater I have done numerous searches on who Fla is looking at, and unfortunately for UM, RR is NOT mentioned anywhere!! DRATS!!!!

Harbaugh's 11-1 record has 0 Top 25 wins. Fraud. I have this strange feeling that RR is going to Florida. Last week, Dee Hart was suppose to decommit and go to Alabama. Last week he took Bama off the table and added Flordia. Now Urban Meyer steps down. RR has ties with Flordia. With DB leaving him hanging in the wind, I could see RR packing up his things and taking off out of spite. I truely beleave that DB has made his decision already and this bowl game will have nothing to do with his decision.

Both teams would have at least one loss if they hadn't played "D" in the second half of a couple of games. Played defense in the second half? You know, where one team keeps the other team from scoring. If Oregon and Auburn don't stop Stanford and Alabama, respectively, in those games they wouldn't be in the championship game. So yes Virgina, you do need a defense. Special teams too, but let's not get hysterical now. I guess the answer to not having a defense is to make the case you don't need one if you score points like Wisconsin did at the end of the season. So therefore, you don't need to sign defensive players, which you aren't anyway, so...Now I get it. It's circular logic. Fatally flawed and intellectually dishonest circular logic but I can see it. Good luck with that.

Theo Oregon - 331 yards per game allowed, Auburn - 335 yards per game allowed, UM - 448 yards per game allowed. Oregon - 18.4 pts per game allowed, Auburn 24.5 pts per game allowed, UM 33.8 pts per game allowed. Oregon and Auburn are within the top 50 in both categories. UM is not in the top 100. So, the Oregon and Auburn defenses will not be playing a lick in what game??

I suspect that DB is questioning his "friendship" with T-212 since he appears to be unable to keep "his" conversations and relationship in confidence. I guess DB is using CCXII as an unofficial spokeperson since RR no longer has a speaking role at Michigan. Hey Cleo, if you are such good friends why weren't you on the dais at the football bust last week? The "Prince" is a straping young man, 5'9" and a healthy 155 pounds. No word on his speed but I'm sure db's all around the Big Ten are losing sleep over this guy.

We'll welcome any recruits these days with open arms. Welcome to Mr. Holloway. At some point, I'd like to see us getting a few bigger targets for our QB's however. Losing Conway to admission requirements (at least temporarily) wasn't good. And hopefully, guys like Ricardo Miller and J'ron Stokes will work their way into significant roles.

According to the local Palo Alto newspaper, Jim Harbaugh, Head Coach at Stanford University, was named the top football coach in the country. The 2010 Woody Hayes award was given to Coach Harbaugh based on Stanford's 11-1 record, the only loss coming at the hands of the number one rated Oregon Ducks. (No comment on whether Coach Rodriguez received any votes.)
