Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson came out of the game against Nebraska in the second quarter and he took the offense with him.
Russell Bellomy replaced the injured Robinson, but he and the Wolverines struggled mightily in the team's first trip to Lincoln in more than 100 years. Michigan and Nebraska are now tied atop the Legends Division of the Big Ten Conference

Several things...1) Denard was under appreciated by many fans before leaving the game. 2) Moving Gardner to WR may have been a big mistake because a running QB like Denard is high risk high reward. The glass was only looked at half full. 3) Fitz is not the answer. Maybe he blocks better than Rawls or Hayes but in the yards gained catagory, he should not be #1. 4) How long will Denard be out and 5) If Denard returns, will one bad fall to the turf do him in, and for a longer period? I hope Mich can beat MN. Go Blue!!

Bellomy was terrible. Fitz is terrible. I understand not giving up on a player, but when the player is not getting the job done, especially with the game in doubt, a change has to be made. The coaches blew this game while the defense kept blue in the game.

Please tell me you've watched enough college football to know what a red-shirt freshmen is. I'm sure Bellomy would have like to perform better than he did but it takes time.

Did I miss something, did DR do anything the second half to encourage his team, or did he just stand around and joke with coaches....the tv coverage never showed him doing anything other than stand around....your thoughts?

I think they have plenty of cheerleaders. And since I wasn't there, I can't say whether Denard was using the time watching the plays and conferring with coaches, or doing sudoku puzzles.

It is always a risk for any organization to be overly reliant on one member of the team. How much had Bellomy practiced with the team in actual game situations? He was 0-11 at one point on pass completion and under a lot of pressure to fill those unlaced shoes!

That was the worst defense in the big ten and they owned our offense all game. Hoke is lucky he did not get hired in 2008 or and his lack of response to the offense being bad is baffling.....

That's the problem with channeling most of your offense through one concept. Most defenses can stop one concept. Nebraska's in the bottom half of Big Ten defenses, but the Huskers have a decent-enough pass defense. If they oversold to stop one specific play, a bad passing attack (Michigan's problem as Denard gets beat up, and now, as we find out, does not have a backup) isn't going anywhere. There are far worse defenses in the Big Ten, though - we've seen two of them in Illinois and Purdue. There are two stories this season. One is a good one - the defensive line has gained experience and competence very quickly after a rough start. That could have elevated Michigan to the level of a national power. The second one is the complete disappearance of the Toussaint-led run game. That's led to a reversion to the Denard-only offense of 2009-10, which will score a lot against bad teams but breaks down when Denard's hurt, or the defense is very good. Michigan scored more in 2011 than in 2010 - and it was more balanced scoring. This year, scoring is a little below the 2009 level, and more than five points per game behind last year's pace. Part of that is facing three truly elite defenses in MSU, Notre Dame and Alabama. But a good offense would have scored more in those games, and certainly would have been able to hang 28-30 against Nebraska.
