As Tuesday's filing deadline for the Aug. 7 primary election came and went, Washtenaw County candidate races and ballot measures are taking shape.

Wes Prater and Alicia Ping will face off this November for a chance to stay on the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners another two years.
After two tax proposals were defeated by a 2-1 margin on May 8, volunteers of the group opposed to the taxes called for fresh blood to replace Ypsilanti City Council members who supported them.

A group of 10 candidates is hoping to bring drastic change to Ypsilanti Township’s elected offices.

In the Saline area, there were a large number of candidates filing for the Aug. 7 primary, especially in York Township, where voters will have four choices for supervisor, and that's just for starters.
